Love & Devotion

This is our first concert under the direction of our new Musical Director, Patrick Brennan. Patrick is a highly regarded music educator and conductor and is well known as the Artistic Director and CEO of the Central Coast Conservatorium.

At the Philharmonia's first rehearsal this year, Patrick spoke about his musical beginnings as a chorister, from boyhood through adolescence, before he started playing the bassoon at the age of sixteen.

We are honoured to have our previous MD, Phil Rees, here to play the beautiful organ part in the Missa Brevis: respect, affection, continuity, love and devotion.

The three main works that we have chosen for tonight were written in 1775, 1834 and 2001. What ties them together is the theme of love and devotion. Love for each other; love of and devotion to God; love of and devotion to music.
