Vivaldi Gloria
Vivaldi Gloria formed a vibrant centrepiece of this concert, celebrating one of the Baroque era’s most joyful and enduring choral works.
Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria is long admired for its vitality, clarity, and exuberance. Originally written for the orchestra and choir of the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, where Vivaldi composed and instructed a renowned ensemble of young women, the work remains a cornerstone of the sacred choral repertoire.
For this performance, Central Coast Philharmonia was joined by members of AHE Alchemy, an initiative of the Australian Haydn Ensemble that provides mentoring opportunities for emerging instrumentalists. Under the direction of Patrick Brennan, choir and instrumentalists combined with energy, precision, and stylistic clarity.
The program also included other choral masterpieces, including Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus and Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, offering audiences a richly varied evening of sacred music.
This concert formed part of Central Coast Philharmonia’s ongoing commitment to presenting significant works from the choral canon alongside meaningful artistic collaborations.
